ICC Approves Hybrid Model: Pakistan Won’t Travel to India in 2026

Hybrid Model

In a recent development made around the Champions Trophy drama, ICC has finally issued an official agreement to the hybrid model in a meeting held on December 13th.

With both the cricket boards, PCB and BCCI, agreeing to host their matches at a neutral location i.e. Dubai, the final arrangement has been decided.

The Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan and Dubai, with matches including India to be played at the latter location.

However, the PCB’s agreement to a hybrid model for the Champions Trophy is associated with the condition of shifting all those tournaments to a hybrid model that is hosted by either of the nations.

They have been persistent about the condition that Pakistan would not travel to India for the upcoming events. While BCCI was reluctant to accept the demand initially, they have finally come to terms with PCB – easing out the situation for Champions Trophy 2025 after so much chaos and drama.

Thus, Pakistan would not be travelling to India for any of the upcoming events hosted by India until the next three years, including the Men’s International World Cup 2026. The league-stage matches including Pakistan would be played at a neutral location for the said tournament.

In another, PCB will not be receiving any compensation for accepting the hybrid model. While they were promised a hefty compensation for allowing India to play a neutral location initially, their persistence for a long-stretched hybrid model pushed ICC to withdraw the offer.

Now, the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy is in exchange for a hybrid model for the Men’s International World Cup. Therefore, no financial compensation makes sense for the PCB.

With the final settlements and agreements being made between PCB and BCCI, all stakeholders are found satisfied and the deadlock seems to have been eased. The matches are expected to be played across three locations in Pakistan and including India in Dubai.
