With the Champions Trophy starting in less than two months, fans are eagerly waiting for the entertainment to begin. PCB is also waiting for the tournament to begin but is also hoping for the construction/ upgradation work in the ground to be completed on time.
Gaddafi stadium is the fourth largest stadium of Pakistan and has hosted historical matches in Past including PSL finals. A budget of PKR 12.8 billion was approved for revamping the three stadiums of Pakistan out of which PKR 7.7 billions were allocated for the Gaddafi Stadium.
The rennovation work of the stadium is in full swing and is expected to be completed within a month. The first floor is almost complete and it is in the finishing state, a screen has been installed and 2 more are in process. The remaining floors are also progressing at a fast pace.
Gaddafi stadium will host the much hyped clashes from the group stage including Australia vs England, Afghanistan vs Australia and Afghanistan vs England. These are three matches that are very important for group B.
The stadium will also host the semi-final and final if India is eliminated in the group stage. Otherwise the remaining two matches will shift from Gaddafi to Dubai.
While the fans are all excited to witness the great display of cricket at their favorite ground, the fact that construction has not been completed yet puts a slightly negative impact. Both PCB and fans are worried whether things will be accomplished timely or not.
Given that Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be a long-awaited international tournament hosted by Pakistan after so many years of dead-grounds, it carries great significance for the management as well as fans.
Also, PCbB has put in maximum efforts to secure their hosting rights for the event – fighting off many controversies and challenges.
Therefore, it is integral that things get in shape timely and Pakistan hosts a successful tournament without any obstacles or mishaps. This would really help the nation earn back their respect and position in the cricketing world.
